Autonomous Retail Stores
Sensors, cameras and ambient tags enable cashier-less checkout, automatic restocking, heatmap analytics and dynamic pricing. AI agents run store operations in real time, with the store running the same way whether or not the connection to head office is up.
A store is an edge site, not a cloud client
Cashier-less checkout has zero tolerance for a slow or dropped connection — a shopper walking out the door has to be charged correctly in the moment, not reconciled later. That means the vision, weight-sensor and tag-fusion logic that decides what a shopper picked up has to run inside the store itself, with the connection to head office used for aggregate reporting and pricing updates, not for the checkout decision itself.
Relay's on-prem deployment runs that fusion logic on store hardware, at the same sub-millisecond latency it runs industrial control loops, while still forwarding aggregated sales and inventory data to a central system over the same platform.
What's included
- →In-store processing: checkout and shrinkage decisions never wait on a connection to head office.
- →Multi-source fusion: camera, weight-sensor and ambient-tag data combine into one shopper-level event stream.
- →Runs the same across every store: the identical platform and rate card deploy to one store or a thousand.
